We are a group of friends who gather monthly to quilt, to learn, to socialize, and to share tips and techniques for improving our quilting. We make quilts for ourselves and to donate to local charities such as the battered women's shelter. Sometimes we donate quilts to non-profit groups to use for their fundraising efforts.
In December 2010, we donated 14 quilts to Peace at Home, the NW Arkansas battered women's shelter. We made the quilts from fabric that had been given to the group. The fabric was cut and organized into color-coordinated "jelly rolls" containing approximately 40 strips. Each member of the group took one of the jelly rolls and made a quilt using a pattern of her choosing. In another post I hope to publish pictures of the donation quilts.

Sassy Sewers
This is the first post for a blog I have started for a group of quilters in NW Arkansas. In it I hope to post pictures of our meetings, pictures of quilts we make, and the dates/topics of future meetings. I hope that other members of the group will send in pictures and ideas to be included in this blog.
We met for the first time in 2011 on January 13. This was our organizational meeting for the year, and so far we plan to work on donation quilts in February and March. After that, we will work on quilt blocks for our own use.
