We have decided not to maintain this blog for the Sassy Quilters anymore.  Please see our individual Facebook pages to see our latest quilts.  Thank you for your interest!

September is here!

********

Jo finished her Card Trick quilt.  We all love the colors she chose, especially the stripe!  She intends to use that as the binding.

Cyndi finished this 3 dimensional bowtie quilt top, called Domino Dots!  It also reminded us of poodle skirts, for some reason. Beautiful!

She also finished this quilt, a pattern by Jenny Doan.  We all love the blues and browns together.

This month we are practicing our paper-piecing skills.  Next week we will eat at Lucy's, and will bring fall fabrics to swap and use in a donation quilt and our own fall projects.

August meetings

******
We are sad to have to say goodbye to Estela, but we hope she will visit us often.  We had a lovely lunch at Mozelle's house to send her off.

 Two of our Sassy Quilters.

Marcia completed her online pattern called the Goody Goody Binding Kit.  It's a very useful portable sewing kit.  She also completed the Spool doll quilt below.  It is 12.5" x 15.5".  The backing was given to her by Meg, and seems to be the perfect fabric.

Marcia also finished this baby quilt.  The candy stripe strips are the binding.

Meg finished these two quilts this month as well, they are both easy patterns that are very graphic and pretty.

Sheila made the lovely quilt above. The backing is as pretty as the front (almost!)

Iris donated the above quilt which was then given to Mozelle's granddaughter, who is going through chemo treatments. It's a lovely quilt of orphan blocks.

If I missed getting your quilt in the blog please let me know. I want to show them all off, but I sometimes forget one.

July Meetings

**********

Cyndi found this gorgeous quilt at a thrift store.  There are the names of authors embroidered in the first border. It has a label that says it was made for the Friends of a local library--possibly for a raffle.
She intends to follow up on this and find out more about it.

Cyndi's niece, Anna, made this lovely green and purple quilt.  She is developing into a talented quilter!

Meg made this beautiful quilt as a wedding gift. It is certainly an interesting design!

Iris made this little oriental wall hanging and embellished it with buttons. I wish I could keep it from showing up sideways!

One more goodbye

********
This month we learned that we will be saying goodbye to another of our members soon.  Estela and her husband will be moving to Dallas before long.  We will miss her.  These quilts are hers, and examples of her excellent craftsmanship.

Marcia has a new toy--a Singer model 99 that she bought at an auction last weekend.  By consensus it has been named "Agent 99."

Marcia has moved from making full-sized quilts to small quilts--by definition they are 30" square or less.  She can get them done quicker and display them easier. These 3 are her latest projects.

"A Quarter Charmed" by Monique Dillard for Maywood Studios

"Winter Seeds" by Julie Cefalu at thecraftyquilter.com
"All Stars" by Pixie Party for RJR

She also has been making purses.  These are by Chris W Designs.  This one is the Bella:

This one is the Serendipity Hip:

A Busy Month

**********
We have all been busy the last two weeks, possibly because we can't do anything else when it rains as much as it has!  We have so much to show.

Iris finished her four-patch quilt.  The border really sets off the colorful blocks.

Meg has been busy making quilts for all the graduating seniors at her church and helping her daughter make them for the seniors in her granddaughter's homeschool class. Below are several of the quilts she made for them to use for studying, picnics, car use, etc.

Estela has returned from her winter in Texas. She finished this lovely wallhanging:

And this Easter-themed bed quilt.  We all love that marbled turquoise fabric!

Cyndi finished this great t-shirt quilt. The recipient has been a busy young man and will enjoy this quilt!

Meg made these two quilts using Jenny Doan's Floating Squares tutorial, but giving it her own spin. They are for upcoming baby showers.

Next month we will be meeting at Meg's to sew.  Here is the lunch schedule (subject to change!)

June 4---Penguin Ed's
June 11--Joe's Italian Grill
June 18--Slim Chickens
June 25--Boar's Head BBQ

Sad Goodbyes

We met at Kosmos, a Greek fast food restaurant, to say goodbye to our dear friends Susan and Pat, who are moving away. We wore our "Sassy Quilter" t-shirts in their honor.

One last chance to talk before they closed on the sale of their house, and took to the road.

We will miss these two dear friends, who have brought us so much fun and laughter over the years.

As you can see, Pat fitted right in with our group .

Iris was our photographer; you can see her snapping the photo with her remote in the photo below.

Pat was wishing he had a chair to sit in, but Sheila didn't mind holding him up.

We wish them all the best in their new home, and we know they will make new friends immediately!
