May 2012 Meeting

We met on May 10, 2012, at the home of Mozelle Wilson. Dollie and Cindy were absent, as was Linda. Before the meeting, Susan had sent out a questionnaire to the members in an effort to solicit feedback about the direction of the group's activities for the coming year. The questionnaire was developed at the request of Diane P, our current leader. We discussed some of the questions and issues, and then everyone was asked to fill out their answers and return the forms to Susan, who will compile the responses and provide them to Diane for further discussion at the June meeting. We tentatively discussed the plans for the group's Christmas party, and there seemed to be some agreement that it would be nicer to have the party on a Saturday rather than on our regular meeting night. Having a luncheon on a Saturday will make it easier for everyone to attend, and there will be more time for games and socializing. These ideas were offered to Diane B, who is spearheading the party planning together with Sheila. I forgot to take my camera, so I had to borrow Susan's iPhone to take pictures. I'm not too familiar with an iPhone, so these may not be the best pictures I've taken, but it's my fault, not the phone's!

This is a donation quilt that was pieced during one of our meetings. It looks like a basket weave pattern.

Sheila's garage sale find. Or should I say garage sale "steal!"

Another one of Sheila's quilts. It's a great stashbuster, and was made using the 2.5 inch strips we cut up last year for the group. I like the way the strips were set at right angles to each other.

Diane P took a small (mini) quilt and framed it. What a great way to show off a small piece of fiber art.

During the meeting, Eva and Susan showed us some techniques that they've created or found. One of the real values of a Sassies meeting is learning new ways to do things.

We celebrate birthdays every month with a gift of fat quarters. Here's Eva, who was our birthday girl this month.
